Bardstown Bourbon Company High Rye is one of three six-year, estate-distilled bourbons compared in Issue No. 003 — Bardstown Turns the Shelf Into a Tasting Lab. At 36% rye — more than a third of the recipe — it’s a structural choice, not a seasoning tweak, and the issue’s tasting notes call out apricot, orange blossom, mint, caramel, nutmeg, cinnamon and vanilla rather than pepper alone.

See the full issue for how this bottle compares to its two lab partners, Wheated Bottled-in-Bond and High Wheat, made from the same distillery at the same age and a similar price.
